At Silver Fern, we believe our students need a solid foundation in the core curriculum of Maths, English and Science, complemented by a broad range of other subjects to enable a balanced curriculum. These subjects include Social Science, Mandarin, Music, Visual Art, Dance, ICT, Physical Education, technology and Thai. This is achieved by following the New Zealand Curriculum for English and Mathematics with the remaining subjects integrated through the use of the British International Primary Curriculum (IPC). The decision to send your children to Silver Fern International School is a positive choice, which will help shape their future and prepare them for life in the 21st Century.
There is a major focus on using a variety of quality assessment tools throughout the core subjects. All students are assessed and evaluated throughout the year by their teacher, self and their peers. Teachers and students are able to track and monitor progress continuously. This information is used to co-construct and plan the next teaching and learning steps. Therefore the majority of programmes are differentiated and so catering for all learning styles and needs of Silver Fern students.
Our class sizes are small. This allows us to take a close personal interest in every student because every student is unique. These small classes are always made up of mixed abilities. Therefore our goal is to develop self-directed learners who are developing the skills, knowledge, attitudes and values to be lifelong learners.
