I welcome you to our school. I know you will find Silver Fern International School a school where you will want your child to belong. The educational opportunities we offer are creative and purposeful both in and out of the classrooms.
Our vision is to achieve excellence and to inspire and instil confidence in the students enrolled at our school. I have high expectations for myself and for the teachers who work alongside me. They show passion and professionalism whilst delivering the most effective way to teach the children here at Silver Fern.
The proverb “Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I understand” is at the heart of our approach here at Silver Fern International School. We foster an enquiry-type approach, which encourages children to question and explore. We incorporate two curriculums in our planning and assessment; International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the New Zealand Curriculum. Our Preschool provides an environment where our Little Silver Fern children learn through play, exploration and discovery. This is the core of the New Zealand Te Whariki curriculum/philosophy at its heart.
There is a strong focus on the individual and diversity of learning styles and needs. Celebrating the individuality of each child will enhance and strengthen our learning community at Silver Fern as well as promoting internationalism. I also believe by doing so we foster kinship, strong self-identity and a passion for learning. All this is setting up our students to be active and successful learners in the 21st Century.
I look forward to the opportunity to meet with new and prospective parents and students in the very near future.
