House Skipping Competition and Family Fun Friday25 August, 2017
On Friday 25th August we held a skipping competition for our first house competition this academic year at Silver Fern. Students in Years 1 – 6 met in their House rooms after lunch, for face paint and boosting team morale, then assembled in the gym. The students competed in partner jumping and relay events. The competition was close in all the relays, so close in fact a protest was considered in the year 2/3 relay, however the judge’s decision was upheld. Teams accrued points based on the total number of partner jumps (10 max), their finishing position in each relay and on their team spirit (judged by each teacher). In the end only 6 points separated first and last place. Pukeko triumphed on the day with 87 points narrowly defeating the second placed Moa, with 85. Pukeko House Captain, Princess Osaithai, accepted the winning cup by Mrs Shirley Cameron, on behalf of Pukeko house. A fun time was had by all. Following the event we enjoyed a Family Fun Friday with parents, teachers and students. The pool was a hot favourite, with delicious hot dogs and ice creams as a fundraiser.
